HP Indigo is the only production-class digital press family built on liquid ElectroInk and the One-Shot colour transfer process. Seven series cover the field — Indigo 7K and 12K for B3/B2 commercial, 15K and V12 for narrow-web labels, 35K for folding carton, 100K and 200K for 3-shift industrial volumes. Every press is published with the same impressions-per-month, sheet-size, colour-count and substrate-reach datasheet.
Published by monthly impression volume, sheet size and substrate range — not marketing tier names.
*Pantone gamut coverage referenced for 12000/12K/15K/35K configurations with 7-colour ink set plus HP Indigo Pantone Emulation in the DFE — actual achievable gamut depends on substrate and operator ICC profile.
HP Indigo is the only production-class digital press family built on liquid ElectroInk — sub-micron pigment particles (typically 1-2 µm) suspended in imaging oil. The result is an offset-like dot structure on coated, uncoated, synthetic and metallised substrates, not a toner-tell laydown.
CMYK plus Orange, Violet, Green, Reflex Blue, White, Silver, Fluorescents and Invisible Yellow. Pantone Emulation workflow is built into the HP PrintOS Digital Front End — gamut coverage is published per series and per substrate, not as a single headline figure.
Sheet-weights 70-400 gsm for commercial 7K/12K, PE/PP/PET films 12-250 µm for label platforms, and folding carton up to 600 µm on the 35K. Each substrate class is published with its recommended ElectroInk primer and pre-treatment notes, not left to field trial.
Entry-Mid (7K / 7900 / 5600 / 6900) for ≤750k imp/mo, Mid-High (12K / 15K) for 1-4M imp/mo, Industrial (35K / 100K / 200K) for 4M+ imp/mo. Published TCO per sheet is measured at 3-shift utilization and documented substrate, not peak engine rate.
ENERGY STAR imaging-equipment compliance, Blue Angel on selected press configurations, and a closed-loop ElectroInk cartridge return programme. Reported per press, not per corporate brochure.
Every ElectroInk impression is imaged on the Photo Imaging Plate, then transferred to an intermediate blanket for all seven separations before a single simultaneous deposit onto the substrate — the “One-Shot” transfer cycle. This is what preserves registration across coated, uncoated and film substrates.
Open Series CompareMatched to volume class, substrate mix and finishing workflow. Every vertical ships with a documented press configuration and a PrintOS workflow reference.
